“I think she does, I’m just not quite sure where she is at the moment,” she admitted. It had been days since the time she should have returned, but maybe the roads were just busy.
“No. I haven’t,” Rapunzel sighed, she definitely didn’t feel like explaining that one. “But I’m excited to!”
A small frowned appeared on Jack’s forehead. “Wait, what?” he asked in confusion. “Why not?” He bit his lip, not knowing if that was a rude response or not. Usually cared-for kids knew where their mothers were.
“Anyway,” he said, trying to shake off the frown. “Are you going to town, then? I hear there’s going to be a huge celebration.”
“If you’re looking for a hospital, I think there’s one just a short distance in that direction.” She pointed in the vicinity of where she thought the building was. When they headed in that direction, Nikki looked at Jack. “Why are you being so nice to me? Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful that I don’t have to hop and crawl to the hospital, but it’s not like I’ve been the greatest or deserve any of this.”
Jack proceeded to walk in the direction Nikki had pointed, and continued in silence. Soon that silence was broken when the girl spoke up again. “Why shouldn’t I be nice to you?” he returned, looking at her. “Everybody deserves nice things, I mean at least once in a while.” He shrugged.
“I don’t need practice,” she scoffed, and leaned back with her arms crossed. “So do I get a prize, Frosty?” She looked up at the winter spirit and noticed how tall he was, considering how they were lying in the same position.
“Wow, cocky, are we?” he said, noticing a slight familiarity with the conversation. Usually Jack was the cocky one and the other would either try to top him or get pissed off. In most cases, the latter. But this time it was the other way around. “I’ll think about it." He shrugged playfully.
