❀ - The teenage hare growled at Jack’s question:

«Ah’ have eyes, y’know? Ah’ll look at whateva’ Ah’ want ta, wheneva’ Ah’ want ta! Hm!» She replied, trying to hide her discomfort.
But then, when Jack insisted on taking her to the Warren, she sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.

She knew Jack was stubborn just like her, and none of them would’ve given up that easily.

«Fine, icicle.» She said, sticking her tongue out with a smirk; she knew Jack didn’t like that nickname: «Let’s get one of the ol’ man tellin’ offs. Like Ah’ wasn’t wishin’ fer anythin’ betta’…»

She tapped her foot on the ground to open a tunnel - and it obviously opened in the wrong place - before grabbing the Winter spirit’s hand and slipping inside it.

That was going to be a long day.

One thing Jack was certain about - Ester had not only her father’s arrogance, but also his grouchiness. He’d asked a simple question, and overreaction was what he had gotten.

“Okay then, whatever,” he said with a shrug. “Icicle? I’m no icicle, baby, I’m an iceberg.” He smirked jokingly when a hole opened up on the ground between them. She jumped first, pulling him along.

He, of course, was yelling out of his head as they slid down the hole.

"You promised…"

“I’m sorry,” Jack said, his grip on his staff loose. He was guilty now, he really was. But he didn’t have a choice; it was either the children, or his friend. And he’d choose his friend in a heartbeat, if only he wasn’t so goddamned selfless. “I was just so busy this Christmas, I haven’t had the time.”

If her muzzle wasn’t covered in fur, Jack would’ve been able to see her flushed face.

She scratched her forehead, turning her gaze away:

«Shaddup, Frostbite.» She said, gritting her teeth: «Yeah, Ah’ shaped these. Ah’ wanted ta be nice and ya make fun of me. What a fine friend you are!»

All she could hear after that was an awkward silence.
She looked around, sighing, before breaking it:

«Are we gonna stay here all day?! Let’s do sumthin’. Like… wanna race me again? Yer gonna lose as usual!»

“Well, you started it,” Jack said, holding his hands up in defense. What he said was merely a comeback, after the mean joke and all. “But alright, alright. That was kinda nice of you. And those snowflakes were sure good.” He shut up for a while, not really knowing what to say at this point.

It was then Ester challenged him to a race, to which he nodded without hesitation. He could use the fun.

“We’ll see about that,” he said, before jumping off the ground and flying off, as fast as he could. Jack could ride the wind, and he was a free runner, so agility was in his nature. He looked back at Ester and called out. “Catch up, Furry!”

Kids, uh?

Headcanon: the day after helping out the Guardians with his friends, Jamie went and added Jack in that drawing, now knowing he had been responsible for the epic sleigh ride. Imagine Jack’s face the next time he visited the boy and noticed the edited drawing.
