Her lips formed into a smile as he asked to why. “Because on new year eve, you get to welcome the new year and say good bye to the old one. I may miss the old year sometimes, but the past is the past and we can’t live in it forever.” she said as she turned her gaze toward him.
“When the new year comes…New things, new possibility things come into your life, endless possibility to come to you. You welcome it, you get to have new fun times. You get to try new things, meet new people who could come into your life, who after a while you couldn’t never see your life without. You get to learn even more about yourself and the world around you, many things.” she explained, taking a deep breath before continuing.
“Most of all, you get to have new amazing memories. Happy memories or sad ones. But you can share those memories with people you care about. Memories I could-want have with you…”.
Jack found himself smiling a bit when she explained; it was rather deep and slightly corny for his taste, but what she said was all true. New Year was about new beginnings and new memories. And that’s why he liked it in the first place. He nodded slowly, grateful for what she had said.
“I guess that makes sense,” he said, his smile slowly growing. “Thanks, Darcy. For letting me remember that.”
“Come on~” she chirped as she nudge his arm slightly. “Just a little, for me please~” she pleaded, dying to know how his singing voice sounded like.
Jack rolled his eyes. He should have anticipated this. “Nope. Not a chance,” he said, shaking his head. He had tried singing before, but it didn’t end very well.
Darcy just looked at him for a few moments, trying to think of something to say or something she could do. “you don’t have to tell me anything, I won’t force you. But i wish you would tell me” she admitted.
“but I hate not seeing you smile” she added. She let out a little sigh as she turned her gaze forward. I can’t even think of anything to say..or anything to cheer him up….what a friend I am, she thought to herself. “its to bad you don’t feel like celebrating, I was hoping to celebrate new years with you” she said as she glanced at him slightly.
“wanna know why I like new years eve?”.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to do anything,” he said, letting his shoulders down. He appreciated that Darcy was trying to lift his spirits even a little, but for some reason he was going to stay that way. Perhaps he liked being the moody teenager that he was. “We’re still friends. And okay then, why?”
Darcy arched her brow at him, crossing her arms. “first, I am not clumsy.” she said, frowning slightly at him. “second, I can accuse you of doing so. If I believe it was you, and I can state ‘my opinions’ about it”.
“But accusations aren’t opinions,” he said, his eyebrows furrowed in frustration. “Ah, forget it. I’m just gonna go make some snow days. Later.” He took off further, until he was out of sight. “She is so difficult,” he muttered under his icy breath.
Five minutes left until Jack would meet his soul mate. The one he was destined to meet, to be with. He was excited, but he was mostly nervous; he found it hard to deal with pressure.
And now there were so much of it on him.
He sighed. Calm down, icebutt, he thought to himself. He had this habit of being too tense about everything. It really had to stop.
He looked at his arm again.
00:00:00
His eyes widened as he saw that they were all now zeroes.
A girl then appeared from behind the trees; she had brown hair and was smaller, but had a nice stature and had an attractive face. Jack couldn’t help but smile as he saw the similar set of zeroes on the girl’s arm.
This was the girl he was destined to be with.
“Hi,” he said, his hands in his pockets. He walked towards her, the smile still on his face. “I can’t believe it’s you.”
“your not making any sense anymore” she said, looking at him confused.
“What I mean was that you can’t accuse me of something I didn’t do,” he said, crossing his arms. “I, however, can state my own opinions about your clumsiness.”
