Darcy stuck her tongue at him when he corrected her. ‘that’s what I meant’ she replied, with her arms still firmly crossed. She was beginning to tell he was mischievous type. Darcy turn her gaze back to the kid who had the frozen sandwich, the puzzled look on the kid’s face was amusing to her. It was funny even, but all she could do was smirk.
It was hard for her now to have a good laugh, it was hard for anything to make her truly have a good laugh like she used to. But she still had her little laughs she had time to time….
Jack was slightly relieved when Darcy explained her stand on pranking. He was a huge troublemaker, after all, but of course he had his limits. Every decent person - or rather, spirit - would have those.
“Good, then,” he said, clearing his throat. “So. How ‘bout you? What’s it like being Darcy?” Jack wanted to know more about her; the things she liked, disliked, what she did during her free time, anything. But then he noticed that she something seemed a little distracted, and so he gave her a moment to reply as he mulled over his own thoughts.
When she remained silent, Jack began to worry. Was she too upset about the whole frozen sandwich thing? He gave her a slight nudge in the arm. “Hey, Darcy,” he mumbled. “Earth needs you.”
“Someone left this by the lake,” Jack said with a shrug, looking at the autumn-themed scarf in his hands. “Sorry, finders keepers.”
Darcy just laughed as he took her arm and began to run off. She took his hand and ran with him, smiling brightly. ‘Where are we going to go Doctor?!’ she asked excitedly, happily playing along to play pretend.
“Let’s go to…” Jack paused for dramatic effect, before continuing, with excited eyes. “The future!” He laughed and ran faster, until they reached a point in the woods he was not familiar with. Which was weird, considering how long he’s been around the place.
“Someone left this by the lake,” Jack said with a shrug, looking at the autumn-themed scarf in his hands. “Sorry, finders keepers.”
Darcy smirked at him, she found his attempt to mimic a British accent amusing. But she was British herself, she just smirked even more at him. ‘Why, I would love to be your companion~’ she replied with her best posh British accent, or at least she tried. It was funny all the same…at least to her.
She linked her arm through his and looked at him with her big brown eyes. ‘Where to Doctor~?’
Excitement rushed through the spirit’s veins. He had always wanted to do pretend he was the Doctor, but he never had a companion to have adventures with. “Brilliant! Now, to the TARDIS!” Jack took Darcy’s arm and ran off.
‘oh your a pranker?’ she asked with a soft smile, raising a brow. 'You prank a lot of people?’ she questioned, she could see Jack pranking a lot of people. Darcy watched as he pointed to a kid eating a sandwich a few feet away from them. She watched as Jack pointed his staff toward the kid, and freezing his sandwich.
She winced a little as she watched the child, try to take a bit of their sandwich to have their teeth meet hard ice.
That had to hurt…
Darcy looked at the winter spirit as he laughed hearty, she crossed her arms and raise a brow with a soft disproving look on her face. She felt sorry for the kid but…apart of her found it tiny bit funny.
'Seriously?’
“Uh, the term is prankster,” he said as soon as he got a hold of himself. Part of him was relieved that he had shown this side of him; he was so nice earlier that it almost felt like he wasn’t himself. Jack wasn’t evil, but he did tend to be mischievous most of the time. Fun was what he lived and existed for.
The kid with the frozen sandwich threw his sandwich away and looked around, confused. He didn’t look that hurt, but the puzzled expression on his face was priceless, at least to Jack, and it almost made him want to laugh again. But he composed himself.
He raised an eyebrow back. “You got a problem with pranksters?” he said in between chuckles.
“Someone left this by the lake,” Jack said with a shrug, looking at the autumn-themed scarf in his hands. “Sorry, finders keepers.”
‘well lucky you, finding yourself quite a nice scarf…it kinda reminds me of-’ she was about to finish but it hit her. She smirked at him, 'Doctor?’.
“Mm-hmm.” Jack smirked back as he wrapped the scarf around his neck. It looked a bit off with his blue hoodie, but he liked it nonetheless. “Would you like to be my companion?” he asked playfully, mimicking a British accent.
Darcy just stared at him as he spoke, she felt her cheeks heat up from blushing so much. She blinked a few times as she continued to listen to him. She kept quiet as she listened.
Jack……I wonder if what he said could be true…..but he does seem confused right now…..I want to help him……I like him but we just met…..but I do want to keep seeing him…..I want him as my friend…..and who knows what the future will hold….i’m thinking about this to much….
‘its okay Jack’ she said with a faint smile. She could tell he was having sorta a hard time or at least confused or embarrassed….
She didn’t really know what to do or say beside just be by his side and help him. But how could she forget it?….but she wasn’t going to push him on the topic, she couldn’t force him.
Darcy turn her gaze away from him and looked to the sky, watching the clouds. ‘Lets continue our walk?, maybe you can tell me more about what its like to be a spirit?’ she suggested, hoping to help him by changing the topic.
The lump in his throat felt bigger and bigger as the minutes passed, but then Darcy decided to try and change the topic, and it relieved him, temporarily. “Yeah, let’s do… that,” he said, still slightly in a daze as he took a step forward.
“What’s it like? Um, well,” he paused to gather his thoughts for a moment before opening his mouth to answer. “It’s fun, I mean, you can mess around with people and they wouldn’t even be able to see you.” He chuckled a bit, remembering the pranks he had been doing over the years.
He was about to tell her the negative side of being a spirit when he stopped himself. There was no time to be negative and sad; he was done with that. For three hundred years he moped around, not knowing his purpose, and he was done with that.
He didn’t ever want to go back to that feeling, ever again.
“Like, for instance,” Jack said, pointing to a kid eating a sandwich a few feet from them. As he opened his mouth to take a bite - and a huge one - Jack pointed his staff at the boy, making his sandwich freeze and turn into ice.
When the kid bit into it, his teeth clanged against the cold, hard ice, the winter spirit let out a hearty laugh.
‘Well I don’t know…so we just will walk around then..?’ she replied, with a soft smile. 'I don’t mind where we go, as long as I can help you with your memories’ she said as she looked at him.
And if I can keep hanging out with you…Darcy thought as a light blush came upon her cheeks.
Her blush deepen a little as his eyes met hers. She raised her brow at him as he began to speak. ‘What?’ she asked softly, waiting to know what he thought would sound crazy.
Her eyes widen slightly and face soften at what he said. Her blush deepen even more a crimson red as she kept looking at him. She was surprised at what he said….
She didn’t know how to react or even what to say to that. All she would mutter was, ‘what?’.
Jack thinks I was his girlfriend?….in his past…..me?…
“I think you were my girlfriend,” Jack repeated, clearing his throat. He wasn’t sure but the familiarity and the fact that he liked her supported his theory. Then again, it was only a theory.
He shook his head. “I- I mean, in my past life. But whatever, I don’t actually know,” he said, feeling so stupid for that stutter. He was usually more sure of himself, ever since he learned about himself and his past, but in that moment, Jack was lost. And he hated the feeling it was giving him.
“Sorry, let’s just forget it.” He began to blush, embarrassed that he even suggested such thing. He and Darcy had only met a few hours ago, after all; he shouldn’t really be jumping to conclusions that quick.
He gulped, feeling a small lump in his throat and diverted his gaze, not knowing what to say anymore.
Darcy smiled amused as she listen to him talk about the fourth. She remember a doctor with a long scarf, she wondered if Jack wanted a scarf like it….
Darcy was happy when he agreed, they should watch it together sometime. She continued to walk by his side, enjoying his company. Darcy looked at him as he spoke again. ‘looks like it’ she agreed.
She rose her brow at him at his question. ‘I don’t know….where would you like to start?’
“Anywhere’s good.” Jack shrugged. It was a fine day for an aimless stroll, so he just decided not to go anywhere in particular. “Or maybe we can just walk around."
He paused in thought, trying to get his previous thoughts back. Okay, so now that I’m sure she isn’t a relative, then she must be…
The winter spirit sighed as he met the girl’s gaze. "Darcy, this will probably sound crazy, but…” he trailed off, fiddling with his staff in uncertainty. He didn’t know what to tell her. But he decided, what the hell. “I think you were my girlfriend.”
Darcy smirked at his comment about being a huge Whovian. ‘So the fourth is your favorite?, I haven’t any episodes of doctor who…before the tenth but a few of the one before him.’ she admitted. ‘I know, I heard he is going to be in the 50th! I’m so excited to watch it! I can’t wait to watch it’ she said excitedly.
Darcy isn’t a huge Doctor Who fan as much as Jack, but she still loved the show all the same. ‘I have to admit though….since the tenth left….I’ve missed a few episodes or seasons….I need to catch up!’ she said with a soft smile. ‘Maybe we could watch doctor who together one day?’ she suggested, smiling.
“Well, you should! That dude is the bomb. And I love his scarf,” he said, nodding a bit. “I call him Scarfy sometimes.” He chuckled, thinking of the Doctor’s more than usually long accessory. Four wore an exceptionally long scarf, and Jack would be lying if he said he didn’t want one.
Upon her suggestion, Jack beamed once again. “Sounds awesome, yeah, we should do that one of these days,” he said, his smile reducing to a smirk after a while. He walked on, keeping Darcy by his side and eventually, they reached town. “Well, looks like we’re here.” He looked around, wondering what to do. “Where would you like to help me recover my memories?”
