Darcy smirked at him at his reply and said ‘your a weird boy’. She shook her head softly amused, as she looked at him again and saw his frown. Her face softens as she continues to look at him, ‘huh….well if its something important it will come to ya and you will figure it out’ she said with a soft smile.
“At least I’m not boring,” he answered with a playful shrug.
The winter spirit stopped walking for a bit, trying to process his thoughts. Something about Darcy reminded him about his past life, but he wasn’t sure how yet. He didn’t really remember much about his life as Jackson, except for who and how he was, and the moment he died. “C- can you give me a moment?” he requested, still hesitant.
‘No it isn’t, I could always call you frost butt~’ she teased, smirking. She chuckled a little at his reaction. Her smirk disappeared as he became serious with what he said next. She looked straight at him, raising a brow at him. 'Erm…..not that I know of….no’ she replied, she doesn’t think they have met before….she would remember meeting him right?..
“Well, for the record, I think Frost Butt would be a lot better,” he said with a shrug. “Cause you know. That would mean I have a really cool ass.” He let out a huge laugh. He could be so shallow at times. Upon hearing her say they had not met before, Jack frowned once again. “Oh. Um, I don’t know, I just had a feeling,” he said, getting confused. “I don’t know, it’s probably nothing, don’t worry.”
‘I will’ she replied, smiling sweetly at him as her eyes shined softly. She blushed slightly as he smirked at her, feeling her heart speed up a little. The way she looked then was so familiar to Jack…like this scene has happened before…
She grinned brightly with mischief at his reaction, ‘yep~ Jacky boy~!’ she teased again, grinning away. ‘its not that bad~’.
“It is that bad,” he grumbled. “Believe me.” He was about to tease her back when something crossed his mind that made him frown a little. He decided to let it out.
“Hey Darcy, just a thought,” he began. "For some reason this whole thing feels familiar. Like it’s happened before, y'know?“ He bit his lip, thinking it over. "Have we met before?”
Darcy smiled and chuckled a little as he was lighting tapping her forehead. ‘Best to keep my mind thinking to much, I agree on that’ she replied with a little shine in her eyes.
‘well if there is anything I want to talk about, I will be sure to talk to you about it Jacky boy~’ she teased with a smirk.
“Yup,” he said with a nod. “If you need a distraction, any distraction, you can always call me.” He smirked, only later realizing the unintentional innuendo he had just made.
He narrowed his eyes once she called him Jacky boy. “Seriously? You’re really gonna start now?” he asked rhetorically, raising his eyebrows, unamused.
Darcy looked over at him, following him as he was leading the way. She listened to him reply to what she said earlier, she did understand his point. She smiled as she listened to him, explain his first time finding out he had powers. But her smile soon fated as he heard him say that people “couldn’t see him”. ‘
‘I understand what your trying to say, we both see things differently because we both live different life’s. Even though you get to have powers and all these other things, there are some things you can’t have and such….it must have been awful when you learned people couldn’t see you…why couldn’t they?’ she asked, looking at him.
She smiled at him, ‘I can tell you love who you are now, you don’t need to keep telling me that’ she teased. She blinked at him when he asked her if she was okay, ‘I’m fine, just when I get into deep talks like this…about life and such….my thought just begins to think and wonder over a lot of things…..that’s all. One of the bad habits of over thinking…’ she replied.
“Because they didn’t know me. They didn’t believe in me,” he said glumly, but then he suddenly regretted this tone of voice. He had to stop being affected by it. This issue was merely in the past, after all. “Not yet, at least.” He offered a smile, implying that he wasn’t at all bothered by this fact. Not anymore.
He laughed, slightly embarrassed of having rambled. “I don’t know, you just didn’t seem too convinced,” he got back, but it wasn’t accusatory. He knew that he could get a bit too self-absorbed at times; that made him a few enemies in the spirit world, if he would say so himself. “I see. Well, we’ve got to keep that mind of yours from thinking too much,” he said, lightly tapping her forehead.
“Unless you want to talk about it, of course,” he added. “These things you wonder about.”
Darcy smirked at his reaction to the nickname suggestion she gave him, she was so going to be saying it for now on. Her smirked widen at his comment about her hair, she stood up and looked at him. ‘Why thank you my good sir~’ she teased back, smirking. ’A walk sounds like a lovely idea’ she replied.
“You’re welcome. Let’s go, then,” he asserted, leading the way through the path to the village.
He listened intently as she explained. It did make sense - most people would love to have powers and freedom and basically the life Jack had, but he still wasn’t entirely sure. He wasn’t being ungrateful or anything; it’s just that somehow, a small part of him still wanted the life of an ordinary human being. He wanted to actually live. But he knew he had a job to do and he had acknowledged that there was nothing he could do, a long time ago.
“I guess after a while, you just get used to it,” he said in his defense. “It seems cool for a little while, I would know - I was excited as hell when I learned I had… you know. Powers.” He found himself smiling a bit, remembering the first time he was able to conjure ice. “Then I learned people couldn’t see me, and I just… I took it all back. But never mind that, I love who I am now.” He grinned, and continued walking.
After a while, the boy noticed that something seemed to have been bothering his companion. Once again, concerned, he asked, “You okay?”
‘Don’t have a good nickname?…that’s to bad..’ she replied softly, 'not even Jackie? or Jacky boy?~’ she teased lightly with a soft smile.
Darcy smirked a tiny bit when he told her, she was quite strong. But her smirk soon fated away…, she simply nodded softly as he commented about her going to “make it”. She always told herself to live life to the fullest so she wouldn’t have regrets…..but it wasn’t that what was bothering her….was it?..
Darcy turned her gaze down to the ground, thinking to herself in deep thoughts. She felt the wind pick up, growing stronger. The wind blew through her hair, causing her hair dance all over the place. Her hair became slightly messy, but nothing to bad. She sighed deeply to herself as she closed her eyes and felt the cold wind brush against her skin…
A tiny smile came onto her lips, at Jack’s comment about Bunnymund.
Guess even spirits don’t get along well at times…
'Still must be nice though…..to live in that world of yours….’ she commented softly, as a dreamy look came upon her face as she wondered over what their world is like.
As she sat like that with that dreamy look on her face, there was a familiar….De Ja Ui feeling about the way she was then. A image of a girl looking just like Darcy but clothing from the time, Jack was still human…came across his mind, a quick flash back of a image…
“Very funny,” he replied sarcastically. “Well, one thing’s for sure, it’s a bit better than Jacky boy. Just a bit.”
As the wind blew stronger, Darcy’s hair was in disarray. Jack couldn’t help but chuckle. “Looking good, Rapunzel,” he teased. “Hey, why don’t we take a little walk? The wind might be more agreeable in town.”
When the girl commented that it must be nice to live in his world, the winter spirit hesitated. He might have said that he knew how to have fun, but his life wasn’t particularly easy. "It’s not that nice, you know,“ he admitted, fiddling with his staff - a habit he had developed whenever he was uncertain about something. "I mean, yeah, being a winter spirit is fun and all, but I do have a job to do. And it isn’t always easy.”
“I- I appreciate your optimistic view on how it is to be me,” he paused, trying to organize his thoughts before continuing. “But I don’t want you to envy it. This life of mine, I mean. You’ve got your own life, and I hope you learn to love it the way it is.”
He hoped he had made his point clearly. Jack wasn’t really the best at explaining and expressing himself through words, either.
‘Ooooh….So North is Santa…..huh…never thought Santa would have a nickname…..but then again I never really thought to much into it..’ she replied. 'All the guardians have nicknames….what is yours?’ she questioned, looking at him.
When Jack said his comment about her growing old and gray, she couldn’t help herself but gave him a light or sorta hard punch in the arm. ‘Oi!’ she said as she punched him, as a her lips slightly curled up into a smile. ‘It will be a long time before that!…’ she remarked. ‘…if I make it that far….’ she added softly as the smile fated off her lips. She didn’t like to talk about growing up much or anything that could lead to a topic of death….
In that moment, she couldn’t help but feel jealous of him. That he would never age and that he could watch the world around him grow….but she then knew that being immortal could be a lonely path…..
She felt slightly sad and lonely at the fact that she would age and he wouldn’t, she didn’t even think for a moment that he might not be her friend forever…..he could just be talking to her today and never see her again….she might not see him again after this…..
She sighed deeply as she tried the mask the feelings she felt at that moment. She gave him a small smile, before she spoke again. ’ What’s wrong with the easter bunny?, what did he do to you?. And he’s called Bunnymund….interesting name or nickname…’ she replied, as she looked away from his gaze.
'So you know the Sandman and Tooth Fairy as well…..and there are other spirits out there….wow…’ she commented softly, looking off into the distance.
'Must be nice to be in a world like that…..meeting them all…’
Jack’s eyes widened a bit. This was exactly the question he had wanted to avoid. “Umm,” he stammered, trying to find an excuse. “I don’t… really have one, not a decent one, at least.” He shrugged and hoped she would let it go. “Besides, I’m not one for nicknames anyway.”
“Ow!” he exclaimed when she punched him in the arm, wincing a bit. It wasn’t that painful, but it sure took him by surprise. “You punch really hard, you know that?” he said, raising a brow. “I’m impressed, though.” He chuckled, but then he noticed her smile fade away. “Hey, you’ll make it, okay? You just have to believe,” he comforted and offered a small smile. He wasn’t the best at giving comfort, but he tries.
The wind began to grow stronger, although it wasn’t by Jack’s doing. Usually his emotions and current mood affected his control over his powers, but this time the chilly air didn’t have to do anything with what he was feeling. Which was just relaxed and nonchalant, really.
When asked about Bunnymund, the spirit gave another shrug. “No, nothing’s wrong with Bunny, really,” he answered, shaking his head lightly. “Except for the fact that he could get real annoying, and real hot-tempered.” He rolled his eyes. He didn’t hate Bunnymund. The big guy really just got on his nerves most of the time.
“I do know the spirits, yeah. Quite a lot of 'em, actually. It is nice, although most of us tend to get incredibly busy, so it’s not all fun and rainbows,” he explained.
“To them, at least. I always find a way to have fun.”
‘You think my center could be wonder like this “North” guy?….who is North?’ she questioned, wondering who this North is.
I wonder if wonder would really be my center…..
She looked up at him at his question. ‘Oh so your physically eighteen?….Well I’m eighteen. So in a way, we are both the same age’ she replied, smiling at him. She watched him as he leaned against his body, watching his body movement.
He has a slender body figure…
The more Darcy was talking to him and looking at him, the more things she noticed about him. She had to admit to herself, he was very attractive…
He has the most beautiful blue eyes…..
She blushed at that thought but quickly pushed that thought away. She looked back up at him as he continued to speak to her.
She raised her brow at him, at his answer of what he was protecting children from….it wasn’t much of an answer but he seemed like he was hiding or holding back something. But he must have his reasons for it right?…
Darcy smiled brightly at his reply to knowing them, ‘That is so cool! so your kinda like a family? what are they like?…you know the Easter bunny?!, who else?!’ she questioned. She heard his sarcastic tone when he said, him and the Easter bunny were “best of buds”. She guessed then , they weren’t very close…
She couldn’t help but smirk at that, she wondered what it was like to be among them…..she wished she could meet them…..
She began to wonder what other spirits were truly real…..
“Oh, North is Santa…” he said, forgetting that she could be unaware of the Guardians’ nicknames. “They all have their own nicknames, sorta. I guess it makes them feel more… grownup, heh.” He cleared his throat, hoping she wouldn’t ask if he had one. The Guardians called him Frosty, and it didn’t feel grownup at all.
When the topic of his age returned, he gave a slight nod. “Yeah? Cool, then. Though I will never age, so one day you’ll be old and gray and I’ll still be the same good-looking me. Ha-ha." It had crossed his mind that not growing up and not being able to marry and have his own family could be sad, though. But he was past that.
Jack noticed Darcy staring at him, making his eyebrows furrow a bit. "Hey, Darcy,” he said, giving her a small nudge. “You look like you’re in a bit of a trance there, you okay?” But when the girl began talking and asking about the Guardians again, he was relieved.
“I guess you could say that. Yeah, I know the Easter Bunny,” he confirmed, crossing his arms. “Unfortunately.”
“But we call him Bunnymund. There’s also the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and… that’s about it. I’ve met other spirits before, but I haven’t been able to keep in touch with them.”
‘oh your center is fun? so I was pretty close then…’ she replied with a smile. She thought for a moment before looking at him. 'I wonder what my center could or would be…’ she mumbled…
Darcy smirked at him, ‘Nah you don’t look old at all, you look about my age or one year younger…’ she replied. She wondered what it must have been liked to watch the earth grow over time…..
must be cool to be immortal…..
'Oh so your job is to protect children and make sure they keep believing in you all…protect from what exactly?’ she asked, what could the guardians be protecting kids from?…..apart from reality….and its dangers….
Her eyes widen when she just come to realize, he said Santa and the Tooth fairy were guardians….they were real…
'W-what you just said Santa and the Tooth Fairy…you know them?!’ she asked excited as her eyes had a slightly glow to them. She grinned ear to ear, her parents told her it was them who did all those things. But she still sorta believed in them, at least Santa. She wanted to keep believing there is truly magic in the world.
“You were,” Jack said in reassurance. “Hmm. You’d probably be like North, his center is wonder.” Her eyes had been filled with wonder all day, after all. He had noticed that.
He chuckled, as he had actually been implying that he was attractive because of his youth. “I know,” he said, not trying to condescend but rather just confirm. “I’m actually physically eighteen, how’re you?” He leaned on his staff, guessing she would be about eighteen as well.
Upon her question, Jack hesitated to answer. Sometimes merely mentioning the word nightmare would trigger a response from Pitch Black, the central enemy of the Guardians. “Bad… things,” he decided, before trying to evade the topic.
“Anyway, yes, I do know them,” he said with a smile. “I sorta work with them. They could get annoying, but I love 'em.” He shrugged. “Especially the Easter Bunny. Him and I are the best of buds,” he said sarcastically. Of all the Guardians, Bunnymund was usually the one he always had a conflict with.
